The V8 my friend & I are repairing was involved in a small offroad excursion, it ended up in a ditch with damage to the front bumper, radiator, oil cooler, & alloy. This in itself wouldn’t have been too bad had it not been for the recovery people lifting the car out of the ditch by a strap through the side windows under the roof!!!! The roof has cracked just infront of the B pillar ( broken through on one side) & caused the top of the A pillar to distort & the glass to break. Any ideas/ recommendations for getting the roof fixed??? Would a fibreglass repair be satisfactory or should we look at maybe adding metal reinforcement or perhaps some sort of roll cage ? ( the interior is having the standard seats replaced with leather full support buckets.for the race look anyway)

Cheers

I can't help but i can suggest places that may give you some good advice:

Guy Theriens - he's currently rebuilding a sport350. His web site appears to be down at the moment.. but it is: www.theriens.com/lotus/

Keen Young - also another hardened esprit rebuilder. His site is:
www.usinternet.com/users/kyoung/lotus/

ALso, for someone in the uk, John Hazzard may be able to help you out. He races an esprit. He also checks out these pages from time to time.
www.brgclassics.info/

All these guys i'm sure can be an great source of info. Contact details are on their sites.

For information on fitting a roll cage, look at Johan Hybinette's site:
www.hybinette.com/lotus/Safety_Mods_/RollCage/rollcage.html

Hope that helps.

Cheers
Rob

thanks rob for the mention,
a fibreglass repair is ok,but it MUST be done by somebody who really understands the construction of the car.i'd sue the recovery co. if it was me as this type of damage will technically write the car off.
i had a similar situation at cadwell after an altercation that left me on 3 wheels...i was not best pleased as a professional recovery co. should have the equipment to lift without further damage
best of luck, shame you are so far away or we would be happy to have a look at it.
forget the rollcage they cost a fortune and are no good for a road car
