Gearbox Question - To sell or not

I have recently sold my S4s and had bought buy sheer chance (ebay) a gearbox from a renault 21, and with the idea of eventually performing a derek bell upgrade on it. However, having sold the car I don't need it. Is there another easy way of Identifying the actual model of gearbox as I understand there were several ? and if so is it worth me trying to sell it ?

Hi Dan,

Nice to hear from you again.

At our recent Oxford meeting, Lotus discussed at some length the technical issue why the Renault boxes were not suitable for application in an Esprit Turbo. Many of the materials used for the internal components are unique and were specifically upgraded for the Esprit application eg. crownwheel and pinion.

Of course that does not stop people fitting them and some have, I am just relaying what they said. However, I would have serious reservations on doing a Derek Bell mod with this box as the donor.

Good to hear from you will drop you a line off list and catch up. They were my thoughts, I only bought it off the cuff just in case it was useful. I'm having a grand clear out and a skip is arriving shortly so it saves me the admin of trying to sell it
