I BOUGHT A 2000 V8 LOTUS 3 WEEKS AGO,WITH 4000 MILES.IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOTUS DEALER IN N.J. TO HAVE CAR LOOKED OVER.ON THE DRIVE HOME THE BREAKS LOCKED UP [AL FOUR]HAD TO WAIT 20 MIN FOR BREAKS TO COOL DOWN.I HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER,THEY TOLD ME THAT THE BRACKET FOR THE BREAK SWITCH WAS BENT,THEREFORE PUTTING A ENOUGH PRESSURE ON THE BREAKS TO HEAT UP AND LOCK BECAUSE OF HEAT BUILD UP.NOW I NEED NEW ROTORS AND PADS.3500.00 HAS ANYONE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM? THEY SAID IT IS NOT COVERED.IT SEEM TO ME LOTUS HAS A POOR DESIGN!THEY SAID IT BCOULD HAPPEN AGAIN.

Contact Clyde Shepherd at Lotus Cars USA in Atlanta - give him the full dealers name and details along with the problem. Clyde will take care of you. He takes care of all of use Lotus nuts on this side of the pond.

I also have a 2000 V8 which I purchased new. I now have over 12K miles and have had zero problems with the brakes. In short, the brakes are fantastic.

If the dealer traced the problem to a bent bracket, then I would check service records... highly unlikely the PO could or would have done that. Either way, like Ernest said... call Clyde.

I dont know where you took it in NJ, but contact Ralph Stelchow of RS Motorsports. Its a strictly Lotus certified mechanic among other things.
