How to replace boot (trunk) cable?

How would I replace the boot cable in an '82 Esprit? I found a lot of threads relating to them snapping, but not how to replace them once they have snapped...

you can pull the new cable through with the old cable. i replaced mine with bicycle cable before the original snapped, but the tight new cable caused a separate but related failure of a nylon mount. had to enter blind through the boot floor to unlatch again. don't waste your money on the official lotus part. everything is available from your local hardware and bike stores.
