Direct line are taking the piss! I had a decent enough quote from them online last year but as I tried to renew it, I get quoted over 100 pounds more. Even with full no claims etc etc.

Obviously, I'm moving on elsewhere.

Any good suggestions welcome.

The ONLY way I got insured this year was that I saved my quote and my reply to a pdf. Seems that (unnnnnnooooofficially) insurance companies here are not accepting new accounts or in some cases renewing old accounts because of the hurrican threat (I found this out from an insider - as it is not legal for an insurance company to not renew for this reason). What total BS!!!

They go years without a claim, then get all huffy when they have to pay somebody. In my case, I always insure as a collector due to the low miles I put on the car yearly. Anyway, they are comming up with the most BS excuses you have ever heard... The old company I was with decided that any car with less than a $100,000.00 value was not a collector car. The new company I am with now has done the same... but they have the where with all to also include low production numbers and not just total value.

I am happy with the new company - no complaints. However, I have looked into "simply" getting bonded and not dealing with insurance companies if they get any harder to deal with...

Drive topless!!!

You could try www.classiclineinsurance.co.uk/ if you only need a limited mileage deal.

I'm told tecso is quite good or try www.confused.com and it will try loads for you in one go.

Thanks for the help.

Classic line gave me a quote almost 2 1/2 times last years premium.

So far, Footman James has given me the best deal and have included recovery at home and europe.

It's like chasing your tail trying to gain NCB and hoping your insurance reduces each year as it just goes up and up.

I was pleased with the deal from e-Sure when I got the Esprit lasy year. I had max NCB on my Omega and had been with them for a couple of years. When I enquired they couldn't do it themselves (you need more than 5 yeas NCB I think and all mine was of course lumped on the Omega). They actually rang round their 'group companies' and came back with a deal from First Alternative - they started me off with 3 years NCB so I didn't have to transfer any from the Omega, which I thought was very decent of them. So, £612 Fully Comp, no mileage or other restrictions. Well pleased.

Cameron...

Have you tried GEICO? I have been with them for years and just include the Esprit along with the S-type and the X-type. The Esprit, believe it or not, is the cheapest car to insure on the policy.

my esprit doesn't get out much spending most of its life disassembled, so i make sure to tell the insurance company the actual miles driven each year. that alone keeps the costs managable. i worry about ever filing a claim though because insurance companies require the repairs be done by a professional third party. there truly isn't a commercial shop able to deliver even average quality work.
