My friend got this radio/microwave detector/scanner thing. It's the same that is used to find bugs.
Anyway, we were playing around with it, and the car is 'bugged'.
It gets very high readings from the centre console, underneath the back pocket.

So, before I begin to pull the car apart, does the Esprit transmit any radio/micro waves ? We picked up the radio waves emited by the amplifiers (car has a $15k sound system fitted), so could there be anything else that can transmit anything? Especially in the location mentioned?

The first owner (I am second owner) fitted the car with every stereo gadget you can get. Also, additionally, I added a talking alarm and talking reverse sensor. Could any of these produce the readings?

What worries me is the fact that I heard that the previous owner was a 'shady' character, so who knows, maybe the cops have been listening to my enjoyment screams on the track for the last couple of years

Any input is appreciated.

Some alarm systems emit Microwave Radiation, e.g. Clifford Alarms.

From the location, sounds suspisciously like your alternator, which is normal- EMF radiation.

Hi,

The entire ignition system can emit energy in the RF range. This is why resistor plugs and High Tension leads were developed to prevent these emissions which can interfere with the sound system as well as some electronic ignition systems and ECU's. Happy Motoring...Jim '85TE

Thanks for the input guys.

Found the culprit. It's the motion sensor part of the alarm. Disconnected it and no waves. Connected it back up and it transmits lots of waves.
