Many thanks for all your replies...regarding my 87 S3 not starting ....
After running a dummy fuel line and pump... that started the car..no probs.
Problem solved :.... the bushes in the pump had seized..after testing and cleaning the bushes GREAT ... its all put back together again ... and after turning key ... i hear a few whizzes of the pump and she starts .......

PS: is there bushes that one can get for the fuel pump?
