thanks for the tip, but at £73 + vat , i'm more likely to to pipe royal icing around the window and garnish with jelly babies.

i'm way past cheap skates. i get them for free. www.landroller.com/
but as you take pride in being uncheap, please buy the product because that puts extra money in my bank account.

Stop being cheap! and just buy the proper part. Jeez, you're always looking for the cheap way to fix this supposed Esprit you have. And your above statement makes no sense.

were i to spend 73 pounds plus shipping and tax, i'd be ashamed of being such a victim. if you spent more buying an icecream than the guy standing next to you with an identical icecream, who's the more admirable?

Either one of the Two Guys with the Ice Cream, when they are standing next to a Guy with Only a Cone...

Problem is once you start making many not so close substitutions to your car.........

....it does become a bit of a hack job that won't bring too many smiles from the purists.

Personally, I try to keep everything I own stock. That way the next guy knows exactly what he has. Some things for an Esprit are very reasonable but the built only for a Lotus items are extremely pricey. Win some lose some I suppose.

i avoid so much as drilling a new hole in the car, but i don't see how 100% reversible changes should bother any purists with too much time on their hands.

Hi All,
IMHO you should just take the correct part ... and not an incorrect substitution. For example if you know where to get the correct part cheaper then its OK. There are many part in our Esprits that are just taken from the GM or Toyota shelf. In this case its the identical=correct part and does not affect the originality and value of the Esprit. A cheapo substutition just because its cheap is a NO NO IMHO.

i will spend less using a black plastic part, and it will look better than the chrome; which seems out of place in the original design. i think chrome is a great material, but lotus used it in an uncomplimentary way. why should i pay a premium price to keep the original lotus look, especially when it is not particularly harmonious? the only other reasonable alternative is to add more chrome parts(functional bumpers maybe) to the car to provide some balance. i bet that would anger the purists, which is never my intention, but is an added bonus. it's great that just being myself effortlessly causes judgmental busybodies mental anguish. life is fair.
