Timing belt is the same from 89-95/96 S4s.

I don't know if the part# you mentioned is correct. I just call up JAE and order a new belt. I think it is around $40.

The Gates T188 timing belt is the correct tooth profile and belt size. It will fit just fine.

In 1995, right at the end of the 4-cylinder's run, Lotus introduced a high mileage timing belt in order to comply with California's mandate that car manufacturers must back automotive timing belts for 100,000 miles. The new belt has a B-prefix on the Lotus part number and it's made with HSN rubber (Highly Saturated Nitrile). It's dimensionally and functionally identical to the earlier round-toothed HTD belts, but it's much more durable.

Belt costs are pretty minor. It's the amount of work required to install one and the potential for expensive damage if one breaks that really define it's value. Regardless of which version of the round-toothed belt your car came with originally, the later HSN HTD belt is the best one to use as a replacement. It's now the standard service replacement and the only belt Lotus provides. It's also the only belt JAE stocks and sells, so your new belt should be an HSN.
