Don't forget Top Gear tonight on BBC2 at 8pm features the Lotus Esprit. In fact I think it's none other than Johnny Boy's car () according to this thread:

Is there a way for someone to record it and place the video on an Esprit related website? Just like the clips on espritfactfile.com.

For those of you who could not assist the program: The Esprit V8 did 1m32, faster than the Ferrari, same as the Mercedes SLK, but slower than the Zonta and the other lighter stuff.

If someone can get me an MPEG of the Esprit portion, I will host it. I have loads of space left on my site. (I'll even compress it to Windows Media so we don't have to wait ages for the download)

Can someone with Satellite be able to subscribe to that station in the UK? I wonder if anyone on the TurboEsprit list might get it.

Hi Guys,

I'm archiving the whole show off my sky+ box on to DVD but I will also trim out the Esprit piece seperately.

Thanks Ernest for the hosting offer, Karl Franz (espritfactfile) has also offered this so I'll be in touch when I get the job done.

Did you spot the PH sticker above the rear view mirror when JC was doing the kipper tie bit?

Sorry Ted, I should have put a bigger one on!

Regards

John

Any chance of getting a copy of that DVD (with a contribution to costs of course)? I could even return you a blank DVD+RW disc, if that helps.

Looked even better on the telly than it does in your profile pic.

Mrs Imelda thinks Esprits look 'plain'. It's no good. I'll have to clout her. Maybe she'll see sense after a good traditional English shoeing........

Karl is a good friend of mine (we live about 30 minutes a part, attend car shows together, etc) so all you have to do is get it to one of us - we share Esprit goodies amongst each other

To reduce the load on jimbro's server, I have put a copy of the Stig in the Esprit at

www.chargecooler.org.

I'm snagging it right now and will forward a copy of it to Karl. Anyone fancy me converting it to Windows Media to enhance streaming?

What's with the comment on Top Gear, "Stig does not like Lotus very much". What's his complaint??

Apparently Lotus turned him down as one of their racing drivers - I'm not sure of the exact details though.

Just downloaded the Top Gear piece from the Esprit Fact File - excellent. A genuinely moving tribute from JC. I almost had a tear in my eye as they played Barber's Adagio, Agnes dei (Vocal) over the end montage. He could have said thanks for the loaner John, especially after the treatment Stig meated out to your tyres!

I remember JC's Top Gear review of the S4 when it came out years ago. Apart from mentioning the engine in his hoover was bigger, he was well into the Esprit back then.

Tell me about it! I was driving the car when they filmed that last piece, but the first time I saw the finished article was on the show itself

Actually, he was very gushing with his thanks after we'd done all the filming - a very nice bloke actually, totally different from his on screen persona
