My parking warning lights aren't working on my 86 NA S3 but the full beam one does, which is next to these. Does anyone know if these are easy to fix (I read somewhere that they are fibre-optic)?
cheers

Richard,

By "Parking Warning Lights" do you mean the 'Tell Tale' indicator on your instrument binnacle? If so, then your problem is most likely a burnt out bulb. Lotus lists the part as: Bulb, 24V,3W Tell Tale - A082M6311.

The Fibre Optic light source you mention is only used to illuminate the indicators on your rocker switches. All other instruments, tell tales etc. are independently lighted by individual bulbs. These are easily replaced by unscrewing the instrument mask on the right side of the binnacle. Now, locate the bulb for the parking brake warning. These unscrew to remove the bulb holder and now merely replace the bulb. Pretty easy. Hope this helps...Jim '85TE

Thanks Jim. It is the tell tale indicators, also the rev counter no longer lights up so I'll try those bulbs.

Richard,

Happy to be of help. Before replacing the bulb, check to see that the bulb holder socket is not corroded. Given the age of the car, that is a possibility as well. A swipe with some alcohol or some fine emery paper should give you a good contact.

One more point, since you are taking the face off the instrument binnacle to get at these two bulbs anyway, why not change them all at the same time...minimal expense and work and you effectively 're-set' the clock on these items ...Jim '85TE
