Just curious?

I happend to see a Lotus and its owner in my area about 2 months ago...I followed him and talked to him briefly..Little did he know i had a Lotus Esprit sitting in my garage at home.....He told me his Red Esprit was a 95 when clearly i knew it wasnt....(88 SE spoiler, Momo Wheel, Old Oz wheels)

I know to the untrained you can tell them any year you want and chances are they will never know...

Do you guys ever do what that guy did?

No. One time a guy asked me if it had a V-12! When I told him it was a 4 cylinder, he didn't believe me.

No the car is good enough for me as it is. Still can hang with the V8's, I just have to be a bit more polished, work harder at it and make less mistakes. Force me to be a better driver. I do the opposite, I tell people I have one of the slow ones. Makes them wonder what a fast one is like.

Well mine is even slower but it is the one I wanted (NA S3). I am of the G-car brigade so chose as close to the year of change as possible. Can't lie about that.

Richard,
While your power band has a lower range than an SE. You have no turbo lag and your car is lighter. A friends S2 N/A is really quick at lower speeds and tighter course, he is also a very good driver and can best most SE's or V8's under those circumstanses. It does loose some pep at higher speeds (starts above 80-90 MPH). It's like my SE starts to loose ground to the V8's at around 130-140 mph. Even if we have one the slow ones (4 cyl.)as I refer to it, it is still quicker than many cars.
