I just got my insurance renewal for the Esprit and it's ridiculous!!!!

When I was 25 I was paying A$1,600/year for the Esprit with Shannnons. At 26 I switched to Torque for A$1,200/year.
Then Sep 11 happened and neither these two companies or anyone else would insure me anymore because they changed their policies and they wouldn't insure anyone under 30 for these kind of cars.
So, the only one that I found was SGIO who did my cover for A$3,300!!! Now, I am 28 and the SGIO renewal came and it's A$4,300!!!!! What the hell???
I am a Rating 1/Max bonus, perfect history. And I can't find anyone to insure my Esprit apart from these rip off merchants SGIO.

Is anyone in Australia under 30 and if so who do you use?

Also, anyone in another country, UK, US, etc. Do you know of an insurance company that insures cars in other countries? A web search didn't help.
Thanks for anyone that can help.

Oouch!! that is silly charging those sort of premiums. I am in Auckland NZ, 29 female have a 89 Esp Turbo and get charged $570.00NZD / yr. That is for full cover. I am insured with a broker called Steere Insurance Services ph 07 347 8173 check the international code 0061 something? They may insure over seas as well. Have you tried your banks? Our banks BNZ, ASB, Westpac, all very competitive with insurance companies.

Cheers and good luck

Ever try Club Esprit, I think they have reduced rates for Esprit's? That's what I have heard anyways. 4K in Austrailan Dollars? what's that like in USD. I pay about 500 USD but it is listed as a 3rd car, occasional use 5K miles/yr. plus the car is stored for about 4 months during the winter. Still driving it now as we have no snow. As soon as they drop the chemicals on the road it's it for the winter till spring.

I pay NZD $1200/year for a 1998 V8SE in Christchurch, NZ. Interestingly, I used to have the car in Auckland, and it was double! This is thru AMP, with full cover, unlimited mileage, etc, for 34 year old male. My previous 1989 model was about NZ $350/year for full cover. Hate to think what these would be in the UK...

Calvin - that's about $ 2450 or so per year in US $...

My '98 costs me about $ 800 per year FULL coverage, no mileage limitations and only $250 deductable with GEICO. (I am 39, no tickets for last 15 years, multi car discount, etc etc)

I would try to shop around a little harder, or maybe look through the members on this site from Oz that drive Esprits, they may be able to help out

Andre, I think you may find it difficult being under 30... i'm just over, and only pay $1400 with shannons. Anthony (ant1) from this site informed me that adding his 26 year old girlfriend to his policy (for an s4) hiked it up to over 4K also..

Each time I tried in Oz I was asked if I was over 30. Unfortunately I am. I would be glad to pay some extra to be less than 30 again. I used Torque who were reasonable. Its all a bit funny because the day after turning 30 you become sensible - WRONG.

That is some high prices Looks like I am the old man of this group. In the US I remember the first big drop came at 26. I don't think 30 makes a difference here in the US, I could be wrong. Looks like from what Ernest says there is not too much difference in insuring a V8 or a 12 y/o SE. for us older guys.
