I have a '97 Esprit V8 that makes a bump noise in the front section of the car when I brake. I don't notice the sound if I apply the bakes slightly but hear it when I apply normal to hard pressure.
Anyone have some thoughts on this? I appreciate your input.

Check the jack and the handle, the spare tire and anything not secured in the front compartment. Had a friend that left a screw driver up ther once and the thump when braking drove him nuts for while till he found it by the spare tire. Do you feel it through the steering wheel? Check the calipers to see if they are loose. See if the springs or clips that hold the pads are there, anti rattle clips? Hubs for movement, and shock towers. Also check bushings.
