I need to replace my speedo cable on a series 2.2. It looks tricky, what's the best way to change it.

Is it a one piece or the two piece cable?

Where is it broken? On my SE if you take the pod cover off you can get to the rear of the speedo and disconnect the cable. On older cars the whole pod must come off. On the USA fed car the cable connector for the two piece is near the rear bulkhead wall. I was thinking of replacing mine as it was making a chirpping sound but just ended up lubricating it instead.

It appears a replacement cable has been fitted in the past but the wrong type as the rear connector does not fit. It has been bodged with wire but I would like to get it right, hence the need to replace it. Thanks or the advice.

Oh wow if it's the transmission side that's the easy side to replace. I think there are a few differences in model years of how it attaches on the transmission side.
