Hey Guys,

Last night I removed the EPBV valve and went for a little run to hear the exhaust without the muffler (which makes this car sound as it should, btw, can't wait to put a full exhaust on). It seemed fine out of first and second gear, however once I got to third I noticed the needle on the boost gauge was pegged, same for 4th and 5th gear. The car seemed to quit accelerating once this happened and the revs just stayed high without much change in speed, when normally she accelerates quite quickly in 5th (engine retarding timing perhaps?).

Now a little background, the car has been boosting to over 1 bar for about a month or so (that I have noticed, it may have been this way when I bought it about 4-5 months ago), however I only drive it once or twice a week (and have not been going WOT in the higher gears pretty much at all due to this) and have been planning on fixing this. This is the first time I believe the gauge has actually been pegged in 3rd and 4th however. Normally it seems to just almost peg out in 5th and just over a bar in 3rd and 4th. I did plug the hose that ran to the EPBV valve with a golf tee for the time being, so I am sure that this is not the problem. Where should I begin looking for the source of this? What is the best way to check the wastegate and other boost hoses? Sorry for the long reads guys, hoping to get this sorted here soon! Thanks!

P.S. I got up to around 35 mph-40 mph and went WOT in 5th to test the clutch, the car just bogged a little and accelerated very slowly, so I am assuming the clutch is fine. Someone correct me if this is the wrong procedure for testing clutch slippage.

Best Regards,

i had over boost for a while. God did the car go well (in the low gears), turned out the turbo actuator thingy was stuck and simply needed a clean and oil up. cheap fix. the car would cut fuel and ignition in 4th and 5th at wot and feel like I had just tossed an anchor out the window. very worrying.

check the hose going to wastegate capsule. If this is unplugged or the capsule not working it will cause the eastegate to not operate. On overboost the ECU will cut fuel pumps to prevent overboost intil the condition ceases. The car will run as before till the next over boost condition. The capsule side hose connection is easy to see. The capsule regulator soloid valve side connection is right next the EPBV solonid so it might have become disloged when you were working with the EBPV.
