Calvin: Would you also check out the web photos of my ABS master brake cylinder? Please compare this configuration to the one on your ?90 SE, which I presume is non-ABS. I have a Lotus dealer looking into the parts necessary to convert ABS to Std. brakes. The conversion is going to be based on the brake parts for a ?90 SE. Our initial guess is that the only substantial difference may be the master cylinder and maybe the pedal push rod. Maybe you could speculate or comment.

The whole assembly is different. The master, reservior, vac booster. The assembly part number is AO82J4147F according to my parts book. I have the ABS part numbers also and they are totally differnt in looks and part number according to the expolded parts diagram for both systems.

Does your master cylinder mount flush to the front wall, or does it mount to the same bracket that the ABS assembly is mounted to?

It appears to be the same bracket. But has a circular vac booster, a differnt master, and even the reservior looks different. It's in the parts book. The master has 3 lines to it. One for each front and a single line to a splitter for the rear.

I forgot about the possibility/probability of a Vac can for power assist. That Vac can must be hooked up to the engine belt-driven vac pump. How big is the vac hose, and how do you suppose it's routed back to the engine compartment?

I'm not real sure but I think there is vac line for the ABS brakes as well. It should be there somewhere. I'm at work and don't have a set of books with like Graham Smith one of a couple of people that always has books nearby. When I get home I will take a good look at the set. Have you explored the possibility of using what you have and just removing the accumilator and ABS module out of the car?

The vac line runs through the central core and is T into the line from the vac pump. I do not see a reference to the ABS system. I will check with Dan and Keen at an up comming club meeting to confirm. Only thing it is being held on the 14th. Keen also has 3 Esprit frames with the lines intact from various Esprit's both ABS and non ABS equiped that I can take a look at. He also has the workings of an ABS car so I will take a look at it too. I don't know what I will do when he finally puts the car back together again as it has been sort of my exploded 3D diagram in life size that I can see, touch, and manipulate. I guess that is why I learned the Esprit so quickly, if it were not for the fact that I can stick my head in place where it normally would not fit it would have taken me a lot longer.

Thanks for the info. It is great that you have such a resource to call upon. I will wait anxiously for the follow-on.

I appreciate the effort, and there is no particular rush. I have a couple of months to get this done.

Adios & Cheers!
