I am in need of some help. I am building an Esprit
autocross car. I need help on modifying the 907
engine. I am looking for anyone who has accomplished
this task. I am using the standard transmission. Can
I get a close ratio gear set? Any help on these would
be very helpful. Thank you in advance. Jim Pennington

Calvin,

Why send reply and send this stuff offlist? This is exactly what a forum like this is all about, sharing information about these cars. If the information disinterests other listers, they can choose not to read this post... JIM '85TE

I did that in my old S1. We rebuilt the motor and:

balanced the crank
replaced the piston and liners with the Nakisil set
ported the head
put in hotter cams
put on a webber manifold and webbers

If you are goning to do that you should look at the 2.2 kit from Dave Bean Engineering. It upgrades your motor to 2.2 liters and improves the torque quite a bit. If you are in the US, I'll give Dave Bean a call. If you want the work done for you I can hook you up with a good guy who built my motor.

As for the ratio kit, I don't remember if that car had a Citron or Renout box (spelling. Check with Dave Bean; if that dosn't work get back to me and I'll try to hook you up with a guy that does race boxes for the Renout box. He might be able to source you any gears you want...

Good luck.

Jim,
A some of the info was posted before, a few bits of it was yours. But more important I got lazy, was short of time, and just forwarded a running corespondence e-mail on this subject with everyones e-mail and IP addresses. While just about everyone involved in the discussion in past did not mind if I gave out their e-mail for the purposes of helping other owners I just did not feel right about posting it on a public Forum without their express permission.

Calvin,

There's no need to be concerned about redistributing info previously posted on this list as it is an open, public domain. As far as releasing email addy's, again if they are members of the group, their email addy is also public domain.

As far as being too busy, well with your schedule I certainly can understand that. Have a great Thanksgiving my friend and extend my wishes to Sheila, Jill and Matt.

Hey, are you going to the gathering at Brit's pub on Sunday? Is your Esprit put to bed for the winter yet?... Jim '85TE

Yeah the e-mail addresses are sort of public domain, but if they choose not to answer email addresses aren't really revealed as they are forwarded by Pistonheads. Some of the stuff I sent out were discussions that involved about 3-4 people and was not real sure about how they felt about it. So better to be safe anyways. I figured if more people want the info I guess I could edit and post them later. My Esprit is still being driven around as the weather is still holding. In fact I drove it yesterday to Elk River to Sheila's cousins place as they hosted this years dinner for the holiday (kids rode with others). I may go to Brit's pub on Sunday, but I am involed in the midst of Matt's school project so we will have to see (have to build a model floating arm trebuchet). True to the competitve nature ours must be more accurate and throw farther than the others. We will aim to surpass the 100+ feet mark which will not be hard according to the math calculations.
Hope to see you on Sunday,
Calvin
