More problems with my 88 esprit, never been out of the shop for very long since I recently got it.
Had new oil seals fitted (drive shaft/gear box) both sides as they we leaking, the garage found the old one had been filled with black gung.
Within a week they are leaking again, now told either the drive shafts are worn or the dif. anyone got clues to which normally goes as too expensive to change everything.?

Caz,

As with most oil seals, they do deteriorate over time, but definitely should not fail in a week's time. This is indicative of improper installation of the seals. They may not have been seated properly, they may not have been lubed on the rim to prevent ripping on initial start-up or the oil seal washer may be faulty or have been ommitted, or the shaft may be corroded causing it to rip the seal when in contact. All of these things should have been corrected at the time of installation. Hope this helps...Jim '85TE (with dry half-shaft seals)

Caz - i'm picking up my car from the dealer tomorrow - its been back to them THREE times now to fix a leaking drive shaft oil seal. They are difficult to fit properly - thats all. If its leaking again so quickly, it means the job wasn't done right - simple as that. Get them to do it properly next time (at their cost, not yours).
