I have an MY2000 v8, there is play in the Wiper arm, at the very tip you can move it up and down by about 2 inches. This results in it banging annoyingly on the stop. It's been like it since I've had it, but last weekend I decided to take a proper look at it. I have found that the play is in the pivot that connects the wiper to the pantograph fingy magigy - cicled in red, It's a kinda egg shaped fitting.

Sadly it doesn't have a nut as shown in the pic, i think it's pressed in or something. A small dollup of weld and she'll be right as rain.

The trouble is I cannot get the little fecker out for love nor money. It's all unhooked both ends, wiper motor as well, but the linkage is plain and simply too long to manauver out

I am pretty much convinced that they sat there at Lotus mulling over the best way to put these cars together, then some brainiac said "I know, why don't we start with the wiper linkage and work our way from there"

Help

Please

Before I end up buying a Noble

Col. its pretty normal to have that sort of play in the wiper ( not saying its good but it the same in all the esprits i've seen )

I've aligned mine so it does not hit the stop, but you're right about the wiper mechanism - would not surprise me if they did start with that and fit the rest of teh car 'round it

You'll just have to call me fussy

I've done the same with mine, lined it up so it don't bang, but then it often gets left further up the windscreen than looks normal, which i also don't like.

Earlier today I sent an email to jcb260 cos he managed to sort his here www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=192100 but hadn't said how - it was the closest I could find to a solution.

He tells me that you can take the glove box out by removing the A pillar trim first, once there the wiper motor and linkage should come out easy - sounds like fun

I've put most of it back together now, and have the noise on my rear wheel to look at tomoz so most likely wont get a chance to try this till next weekend.

I'll let you know how i get on
