My 89 SE is finally back together after major surgery.

The car idles fine but will not run properly under load or if attempting to accelerate, it just hesitates.

Read the fault codes and it is showing 33 and 26.
33 MAP sensor circuit voltage high: Is this likely to be a leaking pipe or duff sensor? Is high voltage translated to high or low manifold pressure?

26 Quad driver circuit secondary injectors: Whats this likely to be? not plugged in correctly, or some conflict?

I was just trying to see if there is a link.

(Mods done during surgery included EBPV and cat removal)
The garage are checking obvious faults such as leaking pipes and bad connections. Just hoping to speed the process us as I want the car back!

I really will have to buy freescan........

If it was fine before, I would think that you have a bad electrical connection going to the motor. I'd start at the secondary injectors and work back, that is, follow all the wires and see that all connectors between them and the ECM are good. Pull each connector apart and reconnect it, etc.

Hi Scotty,
For code 33 there is a nice diagnostic chart in the workshop manual, Section EMH.4, page 60-61
Don't you have the workshop manuals ?????

With code 26 there are actually 9 possible faulty components. Is it code 26"A" or code 26"B". Tech 1 (or Freescan ?) does only show "A" or "B". Why do you know that its the sec. injectors ????
See workshop manual, section EMH.4, page 54-55

Please tell me if you need the manuals ! I'm sure I can help you out with one ;o)
No Esprit owner should ever try to work (or let work) on his Esprit without the manuals !!!!!!

I have the manuals but only got the shorted "Blinking check engine light" to read the codes. Thanks for the advice, will pass message to garage on Monday.

Spelling update!

I had a similar problem after doing the oil catch tank on my esprit. There is a small black plastic pipe that runs from the manifold to the MAP sensor near the passenger side rear wheel well. It just goes into a rubber fitting near the charge cooler, so it is very easy to knock loose.

Esprit now running with no fault codes !!

Idle a bit high when warm but might be needing road time to "learn". Not able to take it out on the road just yet.

I now have Freescan and have two files, one from starting cold to reaching temp, and another, started while warm then a few revs. Could I send them to someone to see if I have an obvious idle problem? IAC may be an issue?

Cure for previous fault codes were a mismatched vaccum line MAP / Fuel pressure sensor which when switched cured the fault.

Home for Xmas ;-)
