Just as I finally finished my car I warmed it up to take its for its MOT and the following two faults have manifested themselves .Maybe normal but comments would be appreciated.
1. The battery light has taken to staying on when the car is firststarted for about a minute .Revving the engine helps it to go out but it sometimes takes a while. While the light is on the volt meter fails to register. When the light eventually goes out it registers 13.5v.
The alternator is new ,the belt is tight and the earths all seem good. The ignition parts ,cap ,rotor and module have all ben replaced. Also after rebuild ewverything has been fine !!ANY IDEAS???

2. I Have noticed a slight miss on low throttle openings? When looking in the engine bay I noticed this is accompanied by a 'flash' in the inlet maniflod of the front carb.I can see it because I have silicone vacuum hoses. It seems as if the carb is back firing. It doesnt do it all the time but as I said the engines eems to miss a beat when it does it,Its just this carb ///agin is this normal ...any ideas.

I.m probably paranoid but I just want to use my car. As soon as its running I,m going to get the whole thing checked over but until I can drive it I cant get it too a garage.
So close and yet so far.

Thanks

Rich

Your alternator is not charging. Most likely dead. If it is a Valeo, this is a good time to dump it and put a Bosch in. Start with fixing this, then look at the ignition, as it may fix both problems.
