my engine mounts ......
Discussion
I'm convinced my engine mounts are gone, there's a definate 5mm gap between the bottom of the mount and the washer. So I bought 2 new mounts, however now that I've received them I think they're ok and am a little confused.
This is the best pic I could get I'm afraid;

Should the gap be there?
If I try and push the bottom of the washer it doesn't move, so I'm guessing the bolt is shouldered?
Should there be more rubber in between the washer and the mount?
I see the rubber washer is listed as a part, do these 'go' and should I be looking to change this?
She's a year 2000 v8
Thankyou :)

Yup, they're hammered... rusty too... where does it live?? You need to order the upper and lower buffer washers (different p/n) plus the lower flat washer and I'd suggest new lock-nuts. You would also be wise to upgrade the mounts to the Sport 350 version which limits the vertical movement by closing the buffer clearance down. This is what I'm doing shortly as all parts are sitting here.

BTW - when you look at the mounts... the clearance between the bottom of the mount and the top of the buffer washer is normal. Also, when shifting at high RPM and a heavy foot, that odd thwacking thud you hear behind you is the motor mounts popping. That clearance gets clamped from the drivetrain torque, hence hammering the mounts. The Sport 350 mounts have almost no clearance... literally about 0.5mm. The part numbers are:
B085E6009F - Sport 350 motor mount
A085E6011F - top buffer washer
A085E6010F - bottom buffer washer
A079W4083F - flat washers (top/bottom)

No, not yet I've dislocated my shoulder so it's a little tricky to assume the 'Lotus Position' to affect repairs.
I'll take you up on the offer and will email you in a sec.
I have some vibration felt under hard acceleration, it feels 'engine mounty' to me which is why I've been looking at them. I have to admit based on what Kev says the amount of movement in there by design seems crazy so long term I may well follow his plan
