...are doing a feature on the Lotus Esprit - not a road test as such but an article on the car's production coming to an end.

The piece will feature a truly stunning example of a 2002 model in Laser Blue - mine actually!

Yes it will be a sad day. The last model and name with a direct link to Chapman to end. With the Elise named after his grand daughter to carry on. At least total production will not shut down and the company is alive.

Unfortunately, the Chapman connection will not remain - the Elise was named after the granddaughter of Romano Artioli, the then boss of Lotus when Bugatti had it.

Oh well then we have lost the direct connection except that the name starts with E and carries the badge. Hopefully all models will be able to do history of the company right.

I can't help noticing the rather nice (but foul coloured) Stratos in the background of that pic. It's difficult when you have to choose a car to lust over.
