'95 ESPRIT S4 STEERING RACK OVERHAUL KITS?
Discussion
If I can recall correctly the best way of repairing these things is to take it to a specialist rebuilder.
Besides replacing bushings, seals etc, and repinning the track rods for specified clearance they also correct the problem of the spool valves gouging out the aluminum housing. They overbore and insert a stainless sleeve and your leaky/weak rack problems are forever gone.
We have a company here in our neck of the woods that does this for a few hundred cdn. Mind you, we've also got Mongoose Machine just down the road for all our Nikasil needs too. However, I'm sure every urban centre has something similar.
I'd certainly go the rebuilt route but let a pro do it. The manual racks only require basic tools and a cheap tension gauge to set up. The power units are a little more complex.
