I know that I have read something on this affliction once before, but I can't remember where. Perhaps it was the old EFF site. I looked at the new site and found nothing. Can anyone offer information on the cause and solutions?

Thanks...Walt, '91 SE

What exactly are your symptoms? Winking or a ptosis?

Most headlight issues are caused by the little plastic thingies inside the motor wearing out and/or turning to somthing resembling parmasian cheese. Putting a new kit in fixes them.

The light opens an inch or two then slams shut, and it does this repeatedly in rapid fashion...hense the term "winking" head lights. If I didn't have to fix it myself, Id say it's kind of funny to watch.

Where can I get a kit?

I have a brief write up here:

There are links to Top-down where I bought my kits and to Sanj's site which has a good writeup.

I have to wonder what the hell they were thinking when thay put hard resin in these things... why did they not use nylon rolls or dowels to begin with? I fixed mine - did both head lights - for 6 US dollars after tax! This could not have been a cost decision!

I'll be posting some step by steps regarding this soon...
