Head Gasket Help

I'm in the process of buying a 2000V8 Esprit and during inspection the mechanic found a coolant leak caused by the head gasket leaking. I've emailed some people and received some great information but I was wondering if anyone here has ever had this problem??? After this is fixed, is there potential for other "issues" to come about??
