aircon for S3 ESPRIT

Do you know where i could get a air-con to fit my 87 Esprit?

I have been quoted up £2000-00 to get the parts to make one up!!!!!!
Is there a smashed S3 in England where i can source one?
Is there a non gen aircon that would fit with ease and be cheaper?

Any help accepted......
