Anyone know how the trimmed inner pillar caps come off?? There are 2 clips which, if it were any other car, would probably be "V" springs popped into square holes in the pillar, a bit of a tug, and voila!

However I am using more force than I would like and the Esprit's still will not part company with the pillar. I have the parts CD but the drawing is not really detailed enough. It seems to be the same for early and late model interiors.

Is there a special "wiggle", do they slide, pop, what??? This is really holding up a job I am doing, and might mean I miss the Esprit day tomorrow :(

Remove the 2 screws that secure it to the top rail and pull it towards the center of the windshield...

That's pretty much all there is to it only the holes are round...

Pull the edge back and try to work a long screwdriver behind the panel and pry at the clips. Shine a light in there as you pull the panel away and you can see them.

Be careful as the cover is thin fiberglas and will crack.

Good luck,

Jim

It's sort of dawning now, I can see they are the usual "C" clips but... as I worried about at the time, it seems like the baboons at Autoglass have bonded the trim to the screen

I really don't know if I can get the top dash off without these now, looks like keyhole surgery through the radio aperture!

I'm not sure what you need to take the "top dash off" but if your refering to the part that is covered in black leather, the leather is typically put on before the windscreen is installed, and the structure below it is just that structure, it's all part of the body and not removable.
