hi. i've been playing tetris for days with the accusump pre-oiler i purchased. most pleasant fit is on the sidewall of the engine compartment where the north american emissions nonsense formerly occupied. however, it does get hot there. crawled under the car for places to mount onto the chassis, but i'd have to fabricate some suitable hardware to avoid drilling holes. i remember quite a few members of this list own an accusump. can you possibly post photos of your mounting arrangement, as well as where to tee into the oil system? thanks.

While I can't speak from experience, if it was me, I would T the thing into the oil feed line to the turbo(s). That comes right off the oil gallery, on 4 cylinders at least. Should be pretty easy to T into as well.

Ever consider mounting it inside the trunk?

We use accusumps on all of our race cars. The Accusump is there to save the engine in case of severe oil pressure loss. Therefore, on the 9XX series of motors there is an easy place to put in it - plumb it into the oil galley fitting on the side of the block right near the oil fiter (located on a large hex type plug). This will allow the Accusump to pressurize the galley and the motor, right where you want it, and some of that will be fed to the turbo as well.

If you plumb it into the feed line for the turbo it'll do nothing but pressurize the turbo bearings but do little or nothing for the motor. Since the oil return to the engine goes into the sump all the Accusump will do is pump its oil into the turbo, and straight to the sump.

To plumb it to the bearing galley all you need to do is remove the plug, drill and tap it for a suitable fitting (AN, NPT, or whatever you feel like using) and hook it up. It'll work well there. Alternatively you could tee it into the oil cooler lines and use a check valve, but the good solution is to use the galley plug.

thanks for the replies. don't want to give up any cargo space dr. hess. i'd sooner mount on the cabin floor if not for the resulting long feed lines. i like the idea of going right into the oil galley. i read about that procedure in the instruction manual, but was not aware my engine had a ready plug. the other option canton suggests is an adaptor fitting behind the oil filter which would crowd an already tight space. i'll have that hole drilled and tapped next time i have the valves adjusted. i'm assuming it isn't that much extra labour.

Hey Dr.Ron,
What diffence would it make if you T'ed in at the gallery plug you mention versus the turbo feed line at the block, which is basically just a few inches further down and off the same gallery? I am talking about removing the 6AN fitting at the block that the turbo feed hose connects to, putting a T in there and putting the 6AN hose on the distal end of the T. The oil pressure from the accusump should pressurize the whole gallery from either access, shouldn't it? It is not like there is a one way valve in there. Of course, you have way more experience with these motors than I do, but I just don't see where it would make any difference.
