I have an MY2000 v8 with a small coolant leak.

I've been struggling to find the source so I've bought one of those flourescent coolant leak detecty thingies - how cool are they :D

Anyway, I'm a lot closer now - I belive it's coming from the bottom of the LH plastic cam cover, as this is the highest point I can find that's wet, the air con compressor directly under it is what's getting the brunt of the fluid.

Now, I know I prolly aint gonna like the answer to this, but any suggestions as to where it's coming from?

And what's involved in getting at this area, I trully dread looking down there at the lack of workspace and visibility :(

Sorry, not up on the V8, but I would suggest that if the leak is from up high that there could easily be a bad short hose conecting a head spiggot to the water pump or return pipe?

Good luck!

Well, not too much up in that area. You have the two short hose connections (mentioned) which have seeped intermittantly on mine when it was new. Also note that the heater hose runs up the left side and the turbos also have water takeoffs from the heads near the front. Also check the lower hoses in the front as there quite a few and could leak under pressure. Have you tried a pressure tester?
