Hi all... In light of the admission that I am all about toys big or small...

I have set out to locate a radio control Lotus Esprit. However, I have been unable to locate one on the 'net! I thought for sure there would be one for sale somewhere...

Anyone have any idea where I might could find such a toy?

It might be easier to just by the RC "guts" and have somebody create a resin body for the kit.

These folks do this sort of thing:

i can vacuum form one for you out of polystyrene, which is exactly how they make the commercial ones. is it okay if it's a g-esprit? don't own an s-esprit to model the plug from.

I wonder how many customers are out there for the Lotus Esprit R/C body shell
I personally collect Ferrari R/C cars (of Tamiya)

and the price range in the market for a vacuum formed body shell (transparent) with the correct stickers (for headlight, tail-light) is US$25

I was considering to make this in China, especially I happen to have an "AutoArt" diecast Lotus cars (so I can get the measurement correctly)
1981-86 version Lotus Esprit
1996-1998 version Lotus V8

but there are other concerns.
the rear spoiler needs to be "plastic injection" to make it look right.

I don't think cutting out the rear spoiler from the vacuum formed would have good appearance.

ok, I have just checked
the 3D scanning
prototype model (1:10 scale based on the standard body of Tamiya R/C electric motor version)
**NOTE: the prototype model is also acting as the actual reference size of the mold
making of the actual mold

and then I have to print the stickers
and the minimum run is 1000pcs

I must sell it for US$35(FOB HK), **customer must pay delivery to his/her country

so I need 1000pcs pre-order to start to make the mold

you can do the spoiler or anything else that doesn't draft as separate pieces. the prototype/plug can be sanded out of a hunk of foam then coated to make it rock hard. find out if they can lower the minimum if we/i make the prototype.

I am not sure about a thousand... but I certainly should not be the only Esprit lover that likes toys! I def be in for 35 and shipping!

I/we would have to come up with a good way to advertize as there are far more Esprit Lovers than owners out there. I should think that wold wide a thousand should not be that big a number? don't know?

I'll keep up and if I run across ant ideas as above... I'll post.

Thanks for the input and...

to the R/C car vacuum formed body,
I have doubt about how many buyers out there wanting to buy an out-of-production model body shell??..

The spoiler, I will think of other way to try to vaccum formed with the body together (just need scissors to cut out)

to be honest, the minimum sale must be 250 units in order to break cost.
