Lotus fuel tanks are junk!!!!

Thin crappy steel.....Id trade my leather interior for an alloy tank....No wait, the gas has eaten my leather interior,so i guess no one would want to trade!.....

Im really contemplating on selling.....i paid 21,000
and have spent over 10 grand with Lotus certified mechanics.Make me an offer? I want a different Lotus.
I can just cry.

Hi Adam,

I'm not in the market right now, but as ever I'm curious. Which model is it you're having so much grief with?

ps I'm on my third Lotus and I've finally figured out all Loti the same in that respect! DOH!!

Windscreen wiper motor plastic gear, decent nylong but so much pressure on such a small gear strips it easily and getting it in and out is such a bitch. Still healing.

-The general absurdly excessive-complexity of the Esprit, which grew terribly in weight since the 2,350-lb S1's, -thus rather obviating Chapman's original success-formula: "KILASS"-- keep it light and simple STUPID! ....When Lotus apparently soon bails-out from this complexity-monster the've created, -it would be interesting to remake the pure classic "flying-wedge" design as a kitcar, -keeping the backbone-frame but dump the sissy AC and computers sh-- and fire-trap turbo-krap, n'just put-in a hotted-up albeit carburated (Tripower 2-hole Carters) version of the 3.9L-Rover(w/a 6-speed Porsche transaxle), --and thereby judiciously pare the weight down to a barebones if spartan 1,995-lbs/905kg (jeeesss, -I'de love to do it)!!! Also, I have installed a transparent engine-cover, with switchable-light therein, so one can groove on the engine through your cockpit-window (as well as via the outside rear-quarter window day or night!). --Nifty improvements like this (and my low-profile headlamps, getting rid of those antique-looking frog-eyes) is probably why a guy has just offered me $40,000 for my simpler/sleek S1-ds(designer-series)... -Bob vH [from the "land of fruits & nuts", --don't ask, -which am I!]

If that's the one on the Elise, it's because it's off the that classic fag-packet, the Citroen AX. Flimseyness comes as standard.
