TANK FIXING BOLT QUESTION (GUY OR ANYONE?)
Discussion
My tank fixing bolt is there,havent really checked to see if it was loose as It happens to be nearly 5 in the morning here!!!!!!
With this bolt being loose,could this cause a major fuel leak?
Also,is the the bolt that you locate slightly above the balance pipe and not in the inspection holes?
How tight should this bolt be?
And once again,with this bolt being loose would it cause a fuel leak?

only if the bolt led to tank movement and a hose split. No easy fix on this one. Looks like you have to take the tank out. There is a quick fix. I do recall one person who shall remain nameless that poured in a substance I think is called POR15 into the tank and it was supposed have the tank tipped around to distribute it to coat the inside. He poured in to the tank then took the car to a big parking lot when the store was closed and drove in tight circles in both directions. It did seal the tank for such an unsual technique. Don't really know how long it will last.

I once had to use a fuel tank sealer {of prof. quality}
to seal leaks on a BMW 327 fuel tank. The problem with this stuff is the tank must be fully drained and cleaned. Then you will get areas in the tank where it will not stick. I would advise not putting sealers in especailly with fuel in the tank as it could gum up fuel passages. If a bolt was loose, it could have stressed the tank near a seam or cracked it. I'm sorry to say but there is "no" quick fix for your problem.
Check the hoses and connections first of course, however if they all look good you will most likely have to pull the tank for a good inspection.
Good Luck!!!
