I first have to say that I am jealous of all of you other Lotus owners....Seems like your cars run well with only a minor problem here and there........I have spent 10 grand plus and owned it less than a year....With that said it looks as if im going to have to replace the left hand fuel tank......Or at least I think.......The foam pad is soaked to the point i can ring it out with gasoline like a wet rag......Is there anyway possible that it could just be a disconnected hose......Is there any product that will stop fuel leaks? JAE quoted me a price of 650 for a tank.....Ive heard of people making their own.....Ill pay anyone the money to have one done for me.

Im losing my patience with this car....I still love it,but it seems like a nightmare....

also how can i definitely conclude it is a hole in the tank? The foam pad is soaked......could it still be some kind of hose???? (I think im trying to rationalize)

My car must be possessed by the devil

You still have to remove the tank to check it out. Oh a fast one to check to see if the filler hose between the tank and filler neck has split or come loose, lower furl balnce line.

First try the Tank fix bolt.Should be just above the balance cross over pipe.
Lotus fuel tanks have been noun to rust. Due to a hole in the upper window. If the tan is really rusted then this is what i recommend.
First pull the tank. If the rust is minimal take the tank to a shop and see if they can reweld the tank. Usually a radiator shop should also do fuel tank work, but you will have to call aroud.
Have the tank powder coated, or at least repainted might as well do both tanks . This will hopefully save some money but it is not easy to do and very time consumming and usually ther is alot of rench throwing. Check to see if their is a good seal around the window that sits above the tank be fore you put back the tank. It may take a while to find the leak, but I would bet that was the original problem.
And this would be according to www.espritfactfile.com/,
If you still do not want to stay with the tank's try this group:
www.hybinette.com/lotus/ look under safety mods and you will see the tanksthey built. And call and ask how they do that.
I know how you feal, I cost my self 23,000$$ buy getting mad.
Just take your time and you will eventually get thru it. I now I did.
Good luck
