89 SE Ignition module x-ref #
Discussion
One of the beauty of Lotus is that they used available technology and products in many areas. One is the GM injection / ignition system. Many of the parts crossference to GM parts.
This is one I've crossreference. Haven't tried it yet but it sure looks the same. It's AC Delco D-1927A.
Here's a link to Kragen with a picture. Let me know if it's the same. Lot cheaper if it works.

Looks like the right one. $187 for it or the $415 for the "for sure" right Lotus one. Maybe a hunt in the wrecking yard will turn up the same thing for a cheap "try and see." Even with the code 41 these cars are so darn fast. Does anyone ever drive them without hitting the boost? Love it everytime.
Thanks
Thanks
Accel and MSD make coils that work too. Though it seems that the Accel coils may not last very long??

The Saturn guys hate the MSD and Accel coils. They have been tested and shown to produce less volts than stock and routinely fail. MSD stands for "May Suddenly Die." Had trouble with MSD wires too although they have the least resistance of any wire.
Travis, did you get my email?

That's weird. I sent you one and never got yours. My server must be using a Lucas ignition box.
Double check: utheim@netptc.net or stockcar4445@hotmail.com
I'll resend to you
I got your's twice, so that's working. I just resent my email to both of your addresses. It has a 1.28MB pdf attachment with some relevant pages from the EMH manual that you might need to diagnose the code 41 & 35. Along with some sensor locations, ECU pinouts, etc...
Let me know if you get it.

I would take it off and go to Kragen and match it up. If it matches including the plugs, I'd try it. Consider Lotus wouldn't have spent time or money re-engineering something that works off the shelf. I've matched up many parts for my lotus from the Quad-4 engine so far so good.
I don't know about the MSD coils but I've used the MSD e-coil with very disappointing results but their regular blaster coil is good. I see the GM twin post coil (on the lotus) looks that same as the e-coil. I don't know. But some swear by it and some swear at it.

Hey Tim,
Any other cross references you happen to have handy would be appreciated. I'll add them to my database, viewable at:

I like that site you reference above. Found a potential source for radiator caps. I should know tomorrow, as I had O'Reilley order one.

What a list you've compiled. Good to know and check out. What I've cross referenced that I don't see on your list that I've used so far have been
Fuel filter - fram G3727
Fuel Pump - AC Delco 6443225 / bosch 69223
both are confirmed.
I've been using parts for a 1989 Chev Cavalier and Olds Cutlass 1990 and have been fairly successful with matching some of the GM parts.
Will let you know when I confirm more.

OK, Tim, I'll add them next update. They're in my Access table now. BTW, "Confirmed" means that I have held it in my hands next to the original and compared them, then put them on _my_ car and am using it. It is a pretty high standard, but there are some other lists out there that are somewhat questionable and I got tired of buying parts based on them and either eating them or having to bring them back. A fuel filter incident comes to mind.

I agree. That is also my definition of confirmed. Having owned a repair shop for many years, you learn how to cross reference parts and then make notes on what worked and what didn't.
Both of those items fit this definition. The Bosch fuel pump is supposily a high performance (whatever that really means) version of the OEM. And it was a direct plugin.

Travis, tested the IAC and found it not working or not working well. Got a new one and it is much better although setting the thing is a bear. I finally got the IAC to hover between 10 and 55 with an idle of 975ish. You weren't kidding when you said that a 1/16 of a turn on the air bleed screw made a difference. Major pain in the butt. It runs at low speed so much better, thank you. Now on to the code 41. We noticed today that if the SES light is on we don't get much boost, so the ECM is seeing a problem. When the light is off, oh man it rocks.
