I was talkign to my Lotus mechanic, and complained to him about how stiff the S4s clutch is. He said that if wanted to remedy that, the shop could engineer a design with a spring mechanism, or use a smaller master cylinder, to reduce the pedal pressure. Has anynone done this? I would be curious as to any thoughts on this subject.

Hi,

You need to get the Lotus "clutch pedal assistor" spring fitted.

This was fitted to the 300S & early S4 models but was later removed as detailed in TSB-17 on the Esprit Fact File.

I've had it fitted to my S4s and while the different feel takes a little getting used I love it now & it's great, especially in traffic

Good luck

Thanks for the info. I will look into getting the spring assistor put on also.
