After buying my V8 GT, I discovered that the driver's seat was worn and colour missing on the outer edge as most Esprit do. The passenger seat was still like brand new. I decided to redye part of the seat with Gliptone liquidleather. Because the seats are red I wasn't expecting great results or colour match. I went over to Hull to Alan Croft yesterday and decided to do it at his house. To my horror the PO has tried to cover the area up with celulose paint! They had even sprayed primer on first!
Iam over the moon with the results, better than I had expected. If you want to see the before and after results, then take a look on

Now my interior is perfect, no marks or wear patches anywhere!

Very nice job Dave!

How much did you have to dye, just the one panel or the whole seat and how do you keep from getting the dye on the piping?

Cheers,
Jim

I dyed the outer panel and blended into the centre slightly. This is on both the seat base and seat back upto where the top section is.
Only used a small amount of dye about 25ml with 50% water and a hobby air brush.

thanks Kylie,

Interior is now mint. The good thing about this product is that it doesn't stand out or appear 'brand new'. It blends in really well. I can't really see where I dye it.
Now onto upgrades... Will be taking my time on this car as I have to keep it for a few years.
I've done the clear front & side indicators.
Alloy button covers on dash
Programmable wiper relay
Main beam 4 light relay

Was think of polishing the Saturns this year.
Big brake upgrade kit going on this month.
Ditching the sports exhaust for straight through pipes
Next year maybe centre exit pipe & rear light conversion though unsure as yet

Dave Will have a look for the relays next week for you.
The dye is from www.liquidleather.com The company is called Gliptone in Todmerden, Halifax, Lancashire. Dye to cover 4 seats cost £18, conditoner cost £6ish. both include postage and packing. I bought ten times more than I needed really (250ml). It dilutes with 50% water when spraying. Always spray apply never use a cloth, it looks rubbish.
