Hi all! I have had this little annoying issue for a long while and it has gotten to the "bother me enough" stage.

If I am running at idle and I turn on anything - my volt-meter drops off to just above 12 (not bad). I am not having any battery issues and the alternator is doing its job, but I think my voltage regulator is on the way out.

If I give her a bit of throttle the meter jumps back up and if I have the cabin fan running or the lights on, they get faster and brighter respectively.

I suppose after the upcomming car show it will be off to the alternator shop...

Well... got the Alternator off and it is off to the shop for rebuild tomorrow. A quik test just for my own ref. (I knowit is going out) with a meter showed a non running read of about 11.5 across the battery terminals. Car running only came upto 12ish...

I am hoping that this is the cause of my randomly crappy running...

By the way, I would not rate pulling the Alternator off as 'hard'... but I would say that some thought must have gone into how it could be made to be at least something of a pain by the design team!

Post of new alternator results after install...
