Test pipe is installed!

Lately I have had a hankerering to finalize my exhaust with a test pipe. The biggest problem was price. Good thing the local Lotus crew is so quick to offer help. So I picked up some piping and flanges and gave them to a local guy (big thanks to Jim Cummings) who welded them up and made it all nice for me. All in stainless except for one end which is mild since I couldn't find a SS reducer/donut that wasn't on back order. Either way, I don't care because for a fraction of the price, I got my test pipe finally.

Install was a breeze. Fired her up and glorious loudness. The car has much more burble to it. Raspier. Idle and cruising noise levels are elevated, but not too much. Hit the go pedal to the floor though and all that changes. This car gets LOUD at WOT. Throttle response seems to have improved and the car seems to get up and go niceer and also pulls a little better up top. At least the butt dyno says so. Overall I am very happy with the results. Now I can focus on installing everything else I still have to do.

Side note, I was getting horrid gas mileage.. ~14-15 MPG. I changed out the O2 sensor and already have gone furhter on this tank than I ever had. Once I get gas this week I'll see what it is now but if anyone is suffering from bad gas mileage and you have some miles on her, check the O2 sensor. Cheap to get, easy to replace.

Was that you on the 4th making a left, just past the Mobil in town... around noon?

Probably. I'm now spoiler-less and have 18" chrome wheels. Off for a few weeks (to Iceland and a Baltic Sea cruise) - maybe we'll catch up in August. I'd still like to join in on a LEO drive and see how it is to keep up!
