I've Got Gas: New Projects w/Pics
Discussion
So my Fuel Project finally finished up last week after beginning it in
January with the purchase of new RC injectors.
The long wait was exclusively my fault, not any of the vendors, but
the results were certainly worth it!!
The entire fueling system was redone (sans tanks and fuel pump) and
some ancillaries were lumped on the "to-do" as well, including a
Michael's Motorsports Cam Gear and a bespoke Wind Splitter.
HUGE thanks go to **Kirt @ Hyper Sport Engineering** (who performed
all the work here in Atlanta) for going way out of his way to make
sure everything was done to an uber high standard.
Also, thanks go to **John @ WC Engineering** for answering dozen of
emails and for supplying a beautiful Ported and Anodized Fuel Rail.
Please click here for pictures and more details on the fuel project,

The car is still running the stock S4 code and is holding up great.
Idle is a little rougher but I definitely feel a tad more low end
torque – just a tad -- which I'm attributing to the cam gear.
I could also easily convince my self the car is quicker in the top end
too with the additional fuel, but that could just be wishful thinking.
I plan to have the car dyno'd as is in order to make a direct
comparison to my last run, and then dyno'd once more with either the
OEM S4s code or the "330" chip.
Stay tuned for the results…

Splitter: I made a template out of card board and sent it to APR Performance who turned it around in a week and charged me less than $300. If you like mine I bet they still have the program for cutting it, but I didn't ask.
Also, when I'm home again I can take a picture of the under side. It extends all the way back to the wheel well underneath but I had a large notch cut out so it wouldn't cover the fans.
It also makes a HUGE difference if you have scraping issues!!!

Hey Lucas,
Funny you just posted this, I was talking with Kirt monday and he said he thought yours turned out well.
And yes it did, looks damn good.
I know the cam pully is 235 but did he quote you a price for the install, I was thinking about having him do this while the turbo is out of the car.
Cheers
John

i like the new guts. apart from the sloppy-ish welding on the water tanks. the shape and colour of the added parts blend in well with the factory parts. your money was well spent i should think.
pssst... the water tanks were a **free** surprise cos Kirt felt like it. No complaints here! I think he is thinking of "mass" producing them. I may have them anodized red like the rest of the pieces.
I don't like the clashing colors of red. I'm going to have to have the Lotus red engine parts repained/powder coated. Other than that I'm set.
Oh, and the ugly end of the fuel rail was becuase Kirt had to re-weld it. I got it anodized from John Welch and it leaked. I'll have to have that piece re anodized too.
Thanks for the compliments!
Lucas.
your installer probably looked at the technical sheet, and noticed there wasn't enough space in your car to meet the recommended surface area for the heat exchanger. since the custom tanks have square corners, you aren't wasting any space now. in industry, when welding a tank like that, all the welds are made inside and out, apart from the top. when the tanks are circular they orbital weld it which is an automated process. best of luck with the upgrades.
