esprit chassis

hi all just bought my self a s3 esprit .needs some work looks a bit sorry for itself. can i wax oil the chassis with it being galvanized put some on yesterday.or would i be better off just spraying oil on to it .might need an exaust manifould not sure where it is blowing any help would be good thanks mike

You could Waxoyl it, wouldn't do any harm. My S3 has an area of the front crossbeam that appears rusty but is far from disintegrating. I'm told the ends of that beam are usually the first bits to rot but mine are fine. The other area (though less so on the S3 than the Turbo) is the chassis side rail by the exhaust as the heat takes to coating off and road spray gets at it...
