Sold my S4s last week (waiting for owner to collect). and decided to buy a V8 GT.
It's a 2000 model with 27K. It's had it's liner work done by Hethell in 2003 at 21K so I assume it's had it's belts changed at the same time.
It's cost me no more money to change apart from a tracker I need to have installed for the insurance.
I have a stack of things to tinker with on the V8.
First thing is to ditch the backbox.
I've bought some alloy button suurounds for the interior, have clear front and side indicators to put on.
Adrian Mugridge has kindly offered to take me to collect the car. Since Adrian bought his car and I had the pleasure of going in it, I've always wanted a V8.
It's in titanium with black interior and red leather seats. Sounds quite sickening but in the flesh it looks great. May redyre the sides of the seats in black at some point if the red becomes too much.
Will post some pics as soon as I can,

Dave - i found the pipes from Chris Neils were the cheapest £109 i think they were. I asked for and got a discount too (if you don't ask you don't get ) QUicksilver want about double that.

Also, little tip: don't bother with the lotus clamps - i picked up some clamps from the local factor for a couple of quid - worked much better than the lotus items in keeping the pipes on without drooping. Fitting a cross brace between the hangers is also a good idea - i used a cut down galvanised roofing strap from wickes.

Might be a good idea to measure your rear ride height before and after, just to see if you get an increase with the reduced weight.

Other no-brainer mods to do: k&n's and the 350 ecu upgrade (high torque).

looking forward to the pics

cheers

Thanks Kylie,

Long time no speak. Picked up car on Friday, it's fantastic!! It's in a different league to my last car. Lots of low down power, feels more solid and NO RATTLES WHATSOEVER!!
I have fallen completely in love with this car.
Looking through the invoices that night, I've found a bill for over £10000 for a complete engine rebuild in 2003. It's even had a new block and crank. Belts were also changed 6K ago.
Also noticed the exhaust note is sweet, then found another invoice for £527 for a Lotus Sports Exhaust.
The clutch is lighter but the throttle is really heavy. I've spoken to PNM about this and just thought they were all like this. PNM reckon that they can ease this so I've booked it in next week to have it sorted.

Yeah I had been busy the last month or so moving house and settling in to the new pad. But I am lurking now

Remember back when you bought your first Esprit, I think you and I must have got ours round the same time and we went ballistic on little upgrades for the cars Good ol days. Well one day I may pop into a V8, but I know the one I want to have and can't quite afford it yet, so I shall be patient and enjoy black beauty for now.

That's the same car! Is that outside Nick Whale then? How come you have a picture of it?
Can you e-mail me any pictures you have to me please?
I was really lucky as the previous seller lost a lot of money on this one. I was just in the right place at the right (ish) sort of time. I still had my S4s but was lucky enough to sell it in a few days and get close to my asking price.

Hope you are settled in your new home Kylie. Hope it doesn't leak!
As for tinkering, last night I fitted clear side and front indicators lenses. Also fitted a relay which lights all 4 lamps on main beam. Also fitted a programmable wiper relay which lets you adjust the time from 1/2 second to 30 seconds.
Also fitted brighter bulbs as old ones are pretty poor.

Next will be the brakes...
