Subject: customs duty on importing engine.

My name is Karl Crossland ... I am a new member to the Lotus Esprit World - website after purchasing my 1990 Lotus Esprit in September 2002.

I am a purchasing manager working in Kazakhstan and import things from all over the world.

In my experience in most cases when purchasing goods from overseas some import duty is applied.

The best thing to do is find a reputable "freight forwarding company" you should be able to find one in your local telephone directory ... they will take care of the packing, collection, international transportation and customs clearance upon arrival to delivery destination ...

One very important point ... ensure you have paid that little extra for transit insurance ... otherwise you will have no protection if your engine is damaged in transit ... SO ... ENSURE THE COMPANY SELLING YOU YOUR ENGINE PACKS THE ENGINE SUITABLE FOR OVERSEAS TRANSPORTATION.

All internataional freight is moved working in line with international regulations called "Incoterms 2000"

Your chosen freight forwarder will be able to provide you with various options for transport

CIP > Carriage Insurance Paid
CIF > Carriage Insurance & Freight
DDP > Delivery Duty Paid

One last thing ... you have an option to transport goods by sea or air ... be careful to get confirmation of the delivery time and cost for both options.

Regards

Karl
