Hi everyone....I just got my car back from PAS Automotive, the licensed Lotus Dealer/Technician in Charlotte,North Carolina. I had 6000 dollars worth of work done which included,Timing Belt,Tie rods,Ball Joints,Chargecooler Impeller, fix all oil leaks in tower cam,C service, new gear shift assembly, tires and other various things...They said it should run like any other

The car runs fine, but it doesnt seem all that fast.Or maybe its just me.I wish i could drive someone elses Lotus to see if mine is as fast. Mine is a 91 Lotus SE.

Do you guys hit 60 in first or second gear?I hit it in second...and that shift to second is sometimes noisy.

It was hard for me to keep up today with a Porsche Carrera 4 a new one. I figured i could have taken it if my car were performing properly....Would a Dyno Test be useful to see where my car is at performance wise?

I have the flowmaster exhaust and a blow off valve,k&n air filter...thats the extent of my modifications.Whats a good place in the US to get the S4s chip...and what is installation like?Perhaps this would cure my problem if in fact there is one.

Also, can you spin your tires with a first to second shift?I can`t....Not that i want to spin them, its just that i was wondering if that is a sign of low power?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated....or if anyone wants to invite me over to drive their Lotus....

Thanks.

It's all in the driving!

Driving an Esprit takes more skill than most other cars, and if you didn't buy yours too long ago, you would still be learning it. It took me 3 months to learn how to drive my first one properly.

When driven properly, it's very quick. If I do everything right in my car, I smoke motorbikes (I have an S4s). However, if I don't get everything just right (enough revs, proper gear change, etc, etc), it's very unimspiring - almost embarassing (always happens when I try to show off).

Still, wouldn't hurt to get it checked out too.

Try "Rev-matching" (double de-clutching) as you go into second.

BTW, even my V8 won't hit 60 in first without a brutal fight.

Lastly, why even bother racing the Carrera, there will be another just around the corner. Porsche sells more Carreras in a year than TOTAL ESPRITS PRODUCED... ever.. You are lucky enought to own one of the world's most rare exotics. Take it easy and enjoy it (IMHO)

Well heck you should be able to take the Porsche.
You can get your chip reprogramed by Sanj. or a new S4s Mk.V chip from John Welsh for about $250 so you have one as a spare with no down time. With Sanj you have to send him your chip to be reprogramed (cheaper this way) and you car will be down for a while (a good winter project).

You don't happen to have a red/tan SE that you just bought in the last 30 days do you?

Okay for an minute there I thought you might have Chris Lee's (from TN) old car that my friend Dan Curry (from MN) just sold earlier this month to a guy in NC. So you have another red/tan SE wandering in your parts there. That car has been in the past a companion to my car at many an event and I know that other guys car well.
