Hello to everyone after a short trip to Colombia!! Without the Esprit!! Does anyone know of a replacement gas cap for a 2002 Esprit other than the one at the Lotus dealer (80 bucks). My buddy left the cap at a gas station, keeps telling me he "closed the flap"-haha, but without the gascap!! Gonna call pepboys and discount auto,but checking here since I've gotten really good info from u guys!

I had a VW Scirocco once.

I have to say that it was officially the worse car i ever owned and makes my Esprit look sooooooooooooooo reliable.

In the 2 months I owned it I had the following probs;

Head gasket go

Some problem with the oil breether that meant it would ditch shed loads of oil into the inlet tract when stopped

I managed to 'rip' the interior mirror out of the windscreen resulting in an ever increasing crack

Stripped teeth on the diff

Had a hole puncture in the side of the clutch housing resulting in gearbox oil spilling all over the clutch

I had all manor of electrical problems

And this was ten years ago, so I'm sure there's more that i just cannot remember

I'm leaving house right now to check, called www.rdent.com and they charge only $13 for the same gas cap the dealer wants $80 for!! Just to let u guys know of a good source of parts for decent prices... Do we maintain a relaiable parts supplier list?? would be a good idea. Be back in a bit with the news on the gas cap..

Ray (rdent) is a great guy. I've been dealing with him for over 20 years.

Gas cap was the most reliable part of the car I reckon, comes as a surprise that they used it on the Esprit then

I just remembered another one, it had this really annoying oil buzzer thing. Most cars have a light that lights when the oil pressure is low, but no this heap of junk had this annoying thing that went beeeeeerrrrrrrrzzzzzzzzzz when the oil pressure was low.

Anyway, it kept going beeeerrrrrrrrzz so i kept topping it up with oil - like ya do

Went stonking up the road, the car sorta lunged and then I looked out the back and you could not see a thing for smoke In my entire life I have never seen so much smoke, the whole road was full , you couldn't see the houses, the road, nothing

Still ran though, smoked like a fecker for about a month
