About Local Groups

This message is meant for Skerd but may apply to many people.
Yes Lotus Limited is a very good national club and has many members. I am a member too but do not show up on the directory as it has not yet been updated. As good as they are nothing can beat local support found in your town. The fellowship, help, and advice in person is the best type to have. I try and help because in my early lotus owership days some 20 years ago I was living in Hawaii with 2 other fellow owners. I had 3 Lotus cars, some manuals and some phone number in England, the US, and a few other places for parts. I know what it is like to be isolated without local help. But even I cannot be as helpfull as someone in person. If someone were there nearby they might have stopped you from spending all the money on your recent trip to the mechanics. You must seek out your fellow local owners. As a group you will be stronger and be able to solve your own problems through a mentoring process. After all the Esprit is just a car (a fabulous one) and working on it is a learned process. The more you do it the better and smoother you become like anything else. Like everyone sometimes I make mistakes and things take longer at times but I work through it and get better. Sometimes even a visiting owner dropping by will perk me up and motivate me to get the car up and running as fast as can if my work drags a bit. My Esprit has less down time than my daily drivers. Many people think I am better than most at the SE model. I have had good local mentors and they are 10 times better than me. I think better than most of the factory guys and are the revered Lotus guru's on the list that everyone speaks of. So go seek the local owners at either Atwell's NY/Northern NJ group or the Philly group found at:

Tell Atwell I said Hello and enjoyed the time I spent with him at LOG.

Calvin
