I know a few of you have Geico, and the ones who dont please chime in. For the last 3 days I have been trying to get a quote on a 1990 SE from my insurance o Geico. To no avail, the bastards keep giving me the run around. Oh, we'll call you back in a few hours with it, or call us tomorrow and we'll have it. Fu**ing idiots if you ask me.

I need to know before tuesday to make my deicison. And I know people have it through Geico. Any suggestions? Shall I go to a specialty car insurance place?

Any one know of any in New York?

Thanks

thats a really good quote, is that with limited or unlimited mileage?

I guess my concern is how to state it to the insurance companies to get the best quote. The car will only be used MAYBE 5,000 miles the first year I own it. and MAYBE 5 -6 months out of the year, this year if i got it probably only like 2 k miles and 4 months.

it will be garaged of course.

Do you have a phone number to Shelter?

I had a difficult time as well. One specialty place (I forget which one) didn't want me because I had a mishap with the MR2 and a damn F150 two years before. I had Geico with all my other vehicles (5) and somehow they got locked into thinking it was a grey market import. Probably my fault. "Where is the car from?" "Well, err, England originally." Mistake. Three days later, on the road to pick it up after finding a Dutch woman working at Geico who helped push their side because she recognized my name, (Dutch mafia at work), convincing them it wasn't grey market and my threatening to pull all my business to whoever insures the Esprit, no problem, we'll take your money.

Funny thing is that the guy I bought it from had Geico on it at the time. Ha ha. You might try asking who you are buying it from who they have it insured with and contacting them direct, giving them the VIN and saying you would love to give them money too.

Yeah, Geico is stupid like that. I have 2 cars, one I use for a commuter and the truck I use for the winter. So when I called to put the Car back on the road, they put me under investigation just because I rotated my cars between the seasons and it took literally an hour of me at one point yelling, HELLO ASSHOLES, EVER HEAR OF A WINTER CAR AND A SUMMER CAR? They thought I was trying to perform insurance fraud the stupid shits.

Good idea on asking the owner who they have insurance through!
