All the info you need on oil is here: www.lotusespritworld.com/ETechnical/oil.html

I use the mobil 1 stuff.

Don't waste your time trying to get a match on the filter - the lotus item isn't expensive so its not worth the risk IMO.

..just seen from your profile you're in the states. Suggest you call jae - they always seem to get a good write up on the various lotus boards:

Hi,

IMHO, the Lotus oil filter is a ripoff. It is priced much higher than an aftermarket one, but has no special benefit. It requires an anti-backflow valve, this used to be somewhat of a rarity, but has since become the norm. It is now actually difficult to find a filter without this feature. Add to that, the Lotus filter is $10 more than an aftermarket one + S/H.

The NAPA Gold #1521 is a direct replacement. Made for NAPA by WIX (OEM Supplier) and it costs $4. This is just not an item you need to pay the Big Bucks for.

If you LIKE to spend big bucks (as I do) buy one of these, as I did:

www.cmfilters.com/spin-on.cfm

$95 is the price of admission. After that it's $12 for a new 'element'

Straight bolt on.

Thanks, I am the general manager of a large Ford store and we have a napa store right in the building. I like the wix brand and have used it on several of my toys. Here is a link to our website.
