i need to reset the ECM on my 1997 Esprit. in the fusebox in the rear compartment just forward of the battery, where the ecm lives, is listed in the owners manual as a multi function fuse that includes the ECM in the descriptor of it's function. when i remove it (for more than 5 minutes, with car off) i notice no difference. it would appear that i have the wrong fuse? can someone please point me to the proper location/method for resetting the ecm?

My manual (s4/s4s), but I've a GT3 says fuses B1 and B4 are ECM, so take both out. IIRC, the fuse box is upside down compared to the drawing in the book. Also, you need to drive for a while until the ECM relearns the fuel settings.

I have disconnected the battery cables a few times and didn’t notice any affect on the ECM but when I took the ECM out of the car it definitely reset. The trouble light comes on for 30 minutes. Do you know for sure that you could tell if the has reset? What are you reseting the ECM for?

i notice the same thing - disconnecting the battery has no effect (this makes no sense to me, why would removing the fuse, and thus disconnecting power, have an effect, but not disconnecting the battery?) but i have heard that resetting the ECM helps with fuel mixture issues - here's my problem:

when i bought the car (600miles ago) it had error readings on the rear two Oxygen sensors and one Front O2 sensor - therefore i could not get an emissions test for tagging the vehicle - the person i bought the car from had a computer and reset the flags in the ecm and all has been fine since then from an error standpoint. HOWEVER - the car died after becoming increasingly slow to start and after towing to dealer i was told that the secondary injectors had begun to leak and had fouled the plugs (reasonable, i guess) so the dealer replaced the plugs and the injectors (expensive). i have driven 500 miles since this repair and the ignition is beginning to slow down again. i am worried that the ecm is mixing the fuel incorrectly and causing the injectors to malfunction. the dealer told me the O2 sensors were fine (he may have only checked the computer and not physically checked them).

any ideas?
